Notice: Positions Available

Several long-serving members have indicated that they will be stepping aside following this 38th Wacipi.
We are looking for several volunteers to fill many positions.

The Mahkato Wacipi is an asset to the Native American community as well as the Mankato area.
Serving on the committee provides you with the knowledge that you have contributed
to making your community a better place.

Next Meeting:
Our next powwow meeting is set for Thursday, September 9th at Snell Motors Community Room (corner of Madison Ave. & Hwy 22) in Mankato, 7-9 PM. Enter in the door closest to the garage area where it says ... Community Room entrance.

Our meeting schedule: The 3rd Thursday of each month March through August. Unless otherwise noted, All meetings are at Snell Motors (corner of Madison Ave. & Hwy 22) in their Community Room at 7:00 PM.

Directions to the meeting location:
Coming from 169 heading south into Mankato:
Entering N. Mankato city limits, take the Hwy 14 EAST exit.. follow that until you come to the RIVER HILLS MALL (Hwy 22) exit. at the stop light, turn right.. continue through a couple of stoplights to the corner of Madison Ave. and Hwy 22. You will see SNELL MOTORS on your LEFT. Enter that parking lot. Community room door is close to the garage and Joann Fabrics bldg.

Coming from 169 heading north into Mankato:
Follow 169/60 through town into N. Mankato to Hwy 14 heading east. Turn right at the exit and follow the directions listed above.

Oyate Crafts

A group of inmates at South Dakota State Prison in Sioux Falls are attempting to form an arts and crafts collective to enable themselves to purchase materials, create arts and crafts, and sell these products to generate an income to be used to purchase personal items such as: coffee, envelopes for writing home, personal hygiene items, etc. Click Here



The Mahkato Mdewakanton Association is 501(c)3 corporation whose purpose is to promote closer ties with our Native American communities. We conduct an annual POW wow and other cultural events throughout the year.
